View Full Version : At what point does a filter start to slow things down?

I have been developing a rule that rejects based on content in the body.

I find some spammers who repetitively send stuff as pictures and yet load
the pictures from a specific domain name site.

I am blocking based on finding those names in the body (as html which is
stripped out)

I have less than 100 now but if I have 1000 or 5000 names would that be a
problem?

How big of a text file can these rules be? At what point does it become a
problem?

It depends on your hardware. Definitely, 1000 records may slowdown EW. I
recommend to analyze these emails and find more universal solution than
simple adding URLs to body filter.

Have you tried using the DNSBL's? I have about 12 filters, paranoid,
DNSBL's and it runs fine.
