Some questions about custom filters ...

Postby alexbromo » Tue Sep 17, 2013 11:00 am

1) On which criteria is based the condition "Sender is local" ? The "From" header ? Or other ? ...
2) What syntax to be use on "Header text" ? For example, if I want to trap the string "maydomain.com" into "Return-Path" header, would be ok to setup: if header text -> contains -> Return-Path: *.mydomain.com ? Or better "matches regexp" ? Must use the quotes for string ?
3) Difference betwheen "contains" and "matches regexp" ?

1. eWall checks the sender/recipients against the local domains, entered in Control Panel -> Local accounts tab.

2. The "header text" condition checks the entire message header as flat text stream. If you want to check some specific header field, I'd recommend use "if header field ... " condition and choose particular field to check. In your case it would be "if header field Return-Path contains @mydomain.com"

3. The "contains" simple check the sub-string occurrence in text. The regexp match is much more complex and powerful tool. For more information about regexps please check this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expression
