Any Info on this Bounce Message

Postby dhudson » Thu Mar 11, 2010 4:10 pm

I have a person who is trying to send a message to one of my customers email accounts.

The following message is returned.
mail transaction failed during initialization

I am running argo with MF 3.0 and never see any indication in my argo logs that this person is even reaching the mail server. I suspect it is some kind of issue whereby my version of argo is not understanding some mail command from the sending persons mail server. Something called ESMTP (Nemesis) on the other end. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello Dave,

Need to check ArGo log. At least the connection attempt should be there. If not, then problem is somewhere else.

Mail is resumed for this account

There were absolutely no log entries from this user. However today I noticed mail was again arriving at the intended account. Also argo logs now show the incoming attempt. So it is as you say - the problem was on the sending mailservers end. It was never connecting to my mail server.
Came from - ISP 1&1's mail handler. Still not sure what was done to resolve it - but it is working again. Thanks for you input.
