Client Timeout

Postby geoit » Wed Nov 11, 2009 12:02 pm

We are using ewall + hmailserver for years now, it's a very good team.

But last Week we had a system crash, since then, one (only one) recipient email-address wont pass thru the filter. We get allways "Error: client timeout 30s".

If i deactivate all filters, the error is still here, but if i create a new filter on "OnRecipient" event and stop all filters the email pass thru.

Directly (without the ewall) the email-address also working.

Still have reinstalled ewall.

Any suggestions ?

It's hard to say anything without log. Also, I'd recommend try to send email using Telnet, maybe there is any error.

It seems like something prevent eWall from reading email file from disc and forwarding to mail server. Is there any antivirus/antispyware installed? If so try to disable them.

There is no Antivirus present (loaded in memory). Only the commandline Scanner Clamav is used from eWall.

Interesting is also, when i set my Workaround "stop all Filters" on "OnMessage" Event it dont work, on "OnRecipient" it works.

Where is the place in ewall - directory for the temporary mails, in temp dir ?

it's really very strange.

Yes, it's temp directory. BTW could you please compare two logs: with "OnRecipient" filter (when it pass through) and without (when it's stuck)?

I'm curious does it happen with every email or only with that one 15KB size? I've tried to reproduce it here and everything works fine. And I event can't see yet how it's possible.

It does happen with every Mail. Also when i telnet directly to the Mailserver and send a minimum of data. I also can't imaging why it only affect one email-address.

Very strange is, that when i change the "bad" email address in the hmailserver (the same account) an add only one character i.e. (test@test.com -> test2@test.com) it pass thru.......

I suggest since its only happening to this one account. That you delete the account in hMailserver then recreate it and Test.

hMailServer 5.3.3: External MySql
Win2k3 Server | eWall 4.0 Anti-Spam Anti-Virus SMTP Proxy
SpamAssassin 3.31 - ClamAV on backend Ubuntu Server (VMware)
