MailFilter & AVG 2011?

Postby Torben » Mon Nov 15, 2010 3:56 pm

Hi there,

Very short question: Is there a chance of using MailFilter with the new AVG 2011?

I'd prefer to use the COM-Interface like in the older versions.

Thanks in Advance

Torben

Thanks for your reply, but i think i have to clearify some things: for avg there have been two methods of using in mail-filter: first the command-line-option and second the com-interface. The COM-Interface does not need (and also does not allow) any configuration and was always better performing then the CLI.

So my question is, if there is any possibility that you release a dll that allows using avg 2011 with the com-interface and not the command-line-option.

Yes, I mean command-line integration, the Grisoft team didn't respond to API request for AVG 2011.

Hi Alex,

i tried the command-line-option for AVG 2011 and managed to scan incomming files. But: Even as AVG reported them as infected (I can see this in the History of AVG) MailFilter says it is not.

I think that the result of the CMD-Scan is parsed incorrectly since we use a german version of AVG. I managed to correct the determination of the Database- and Program-Version (they are shown, when i click the "Test AV"-Button in MailFilter) but not the determination of infected mails.

This is the result of an "infected" CMD-Scan:
Code: Select all
C:\>c:\Programme\AVG\AVG10\avgscanx.exe /ARC /SCAN=G:\eicar_com
AVG 2011 Anti-Virus Befehlszeilenscanner
Copyright (c) 1992 - 2010 AVG Technologies
Programmversion 10.0.1170, Engine 10.0.426
Virendatenbank: Version 426/3326 2010-12-19

G:\eicar_com.zip:\eicar.com Virus identifiziert: EICAR_Test
G:\eicar_com.zip Virus identifiziert: EICAR_Test

Gescannte Objekte:    2
Gefundene Infektionen:    2
Gefundene unerw?nschte Programme:    0
Bereinigte Infektionen:    0
Bereinigte unerw?nschte Programme:    0
Warnungen:    0

And this is my modified .cfg-File for AVG 2011:
Code: Select all
[Config]
Name=AVG Anti-Virus System
Display=AVG Anti-Virus System Cmd v10
Type=0
Cmd=C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG10\AVGSCANX.EXE /ARC /SCAN=<file>
Extract=1

[Version]
1Programmversion ([\d\.]+)

[DBVersion]
1Virendatenbank: Version ([\d\./\/]+)

[VirusName]
2(Trojanisches Pferd|Virus indentifiziert)([^\r\n]+)

What do I have to do, to correctly pass the scan-result to MailFilter?

Please try the following:

Code: Select all
[Config]
Name=AVG Anti-Virus System
Display=AVG Anti-Virus System Cmd v11
Type=0
Cmd=C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG10\AVGSCANX.EXE /ARC /SCAN=<file>
Extract=1

[Version]
1Programmversion ([\d\.]+)

[DBVersion]
1Virendatenbank: Version ([\d\./\/]+)

[VirusName]
2(Trojanisches Pferd: |Virus identifiziert: )([^\r\n]+)

However, I think your previous file should work too. If it won't work, I'll try to get the German version of AVG and test it here.

Hi Alex,

thanks for the quick answer. I do not exactly know what I have done different this time, but now it works with my version of the .cfg-File.

One change though (as I looked in the old AVG-logs): The correct german term for trojan is not "Trojanisches Pferd" but "Trojaner".

Now everything works as expected.

Most likely you didn't restart the mail server after chaning the .CFG file.
